During this period, British control expanded in the North Cachar Hills. Sambudhan began organizing local Dimasa youths and elders to protect their land, culture, and autonomy.

He formally initiated an armed resistance against British authority. Sambudhan united tribal warriors and strengthened traditional defense systems in the hills.

Major Uprising in Cachar Hills

Sambudhan Phonglo led a significant revolt in the North Cachar region against colonial rule. His movement challenged British administrative control and inspired tribal solidarity.

1883
Final Battle and Martyrdom

In 1883, Sambudhan Phonglo was captured after fierce resistance. He was executed by the British, becoming a martyr for tribal freedom and dignity.
